About the Role
This opportunity is offered through a partner organization seeking an Information Services Consultant based in the United States, working fully remotely. The role is centered around advancing enterprise information governance and modernizing records management systems to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, refine, and uphold enterprise-wide records classification frameworks and retention policies.
- Evaluate business workflows to determine records management triggers, lifecycle demands, and overall information needs.
- Engage with diverse stakeholders including business leaders, legal, privacy, audit, risk, and IT teams to align governance processes.
- Convert legislative and policy mandates into actionable recordkeeping standards and business rules.
- Design and oversee classification taxonomies, metadata arrangements, and governance structures.
- Detect information management risks and propose solutions to enhance compliance and operational integrity.
- Produce comprehensive governance documentation such as retention rationales, classification schemas, operational procedures, guidance, and audit records.
- Support governance efforts across digital, hybrid, and conventional records environments.
- Identify official records, transient data, duplicate materials, and opportunities for improved lifecycle management.
- Assist in initiatives for records modernization, digital transformation, and migration from legacy systems to contemporary digital controls.
- Recommend improvements in lifecycle practices, governance policies, and content management strategies.
Candidate Profile
- Substantial experience in records classification and retention schedule development and maintenance.
- Proficiency in information governance, records management, compliance, or privacy domains.
- Strong skills in analyzing organizational processes to ascertain record lifecycle needs.
- Proven ability to coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams spanning legal, privacy, audit, risk, business units, and IT.
- Capability to interpret and apply regulatory, legislative, and policy requirements effectively.
- Experience within regulated sectors such as finance, public sector, or government environments.
- Deep understanding of records and information lifecycle methodologies.
- Knowledge in taxonomy creation, retention, disposition management, and metadata governance.
- Track record of producing governance documentation, guidelines, and compliance policies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and facilitation capabilities.
- Skilled in managing stakeholder relationships and facilitating organizational change.
- Experience with records modernization, retention policy updates, or legacy records migration is advantageous.
- Familiarity with information architecture, data governance, enterprise content systems, Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, cloud content platforms, workflow automation, and digital transformation strategies is a plus.
- Awareness of privacy regulations, government information mandates, or compliance frameworks pertinent to regulated industries is beneficial.
