Job Overview
The Housekeeping Attendant is tasked with maintaining a spotless, hygienic, safe, and inviting setting for guests and staff at Carnival Corporation's global destinations, including the Bahamas location. This role encompasses upkeep of all assigned zones such as public areas, dining rooms, restrooms, lounges, open recreational spaces, and employee work areas, ensuring they conform to the highest standards of cleanliness and organization.
Being highly visible within the team, the Housekeeping Attendant regularly engages with guests by offering assistance, answering inquiries, and fostering a professional, positive guest environment.
Primary Duties
- Perform routine and deep cleaning and sanitizing of assigned spaces including public rooms, corridors, outdoor areas, and employee zones to maintain excellent appearance and safety.
- Manage trash and recycling disposal in accordance with environmental best practices and company policies.
- Stock sanitary supplies such as tissues, hand towels, and soaps for guests and staff.
- Handle and store cleaning agents and equipment safely, following company protocols.
- Operate cleaning machines efficiently while maintaining their proper condition.
- Support stateroom cleaning duties as part of cross-training initiatives.
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, environmental, and hospitality standards.
- Wear company-approved attire and maintain appearance and conduct in line with policies.
- Observe cleaning processes for quality assurance, report hazards and operational gaps promptly to management.
- Keep precise work records, report maintenance or repair needs, and communicate guest concerns swiftly to housekeeping supervisors.
- Aid housekeeping leadership with special projects or operational assistance as required.
- Cooperate across departments to ensure smooth operation and help teammates to meet organizational expectations.
Qualifications
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required; hospitality-related education is advantageous.
- At least 1-2 years’ experience in hotel or similar housekeeping roles.
- Conversational English proficiency essential.
- Previous customer service experience is mandatory.
- Physical capability to lift items up to 20 pounds and work outdoors in various conditions.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe usage practices.
Additional Competencies and Conditions
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
- Competent in Microsoft Office and familiar with data entry and reporting procedures.
- Attention to detail with proactive problem-solving ability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a professional demeanor.
- Ability to work standing for extended durations and potentially on shift schedules.
- Commitment to following health, safety, environmental, and security policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Willingness to promptly report unsafe conditions or incidents.
