Job Purpose

The Head Technician role is site-based, accountable for the operational readiness, safety, and functionality of all dive-related equipment at assigned locations. This position manages inspection, servicing, repairs, and recordkeeping to ensure dive assets meet manufacturer guidelines, regulatory requirements, corporate standards, and operational demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the Manager – Dive Operation regarding the operating status and safety of all dive equipment.
  • Lead daily technical management activities including testing, maintenance troubleshooting, and repairs of dive gear.
  • Assist in planning and forecasting equipment needs for current and expanded dive center facilities.
  • Provide technical expertise to maintain equipment consistency across multiple dive center sites.
  • Adapt to variable work environments including on-site, remote, and office-based settings.
  • Support dive center pre-opening tasks such as equipment setup, commissioning, maintenance scheduling, and inventory establishment.
  • Ensure all post-opening equipment servicing, repair, and maintenance tasks meet professional standards and timelines.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of inspections, faults, servicing, repairs, and inventory management.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to assure adequate spare parts supply for future service requirements.
  • Comply with safety, quality, and environmental policies to guarantee employee and guest protection and regulatory adherence.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities to optimize equipment practices, operational efficiency, and safety protocols.

Qualification and Experience

  • Certification in dive equipment servicing (e.g., PADI Equipment Specialist, PSI-PCI Visual Cylinder Inspector, or manufacturer-certified technician).
  • Certification as a breathing-air compressor technician (eg. Bauer or Coltri Compressor Technician) for high-pressure breathing-air systems.
  • Certified or qualified cylinder technician with expertise in inspection, testing, and maintenance.
  • Proven track record in diving equipment servicing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of compressors and cylinders.
  • Strong skills in equipment management, parts inventory, and detailed maintenance recordkeeping.
  • Sound knowledge of diving health, safety, quality standards, and environmental compliance.
  • Valid Fit to Dive Medical certification.

  • Capable of working effectively in culturally diverse, multidisciplinary teams.

Desirable Skills

  • Proficiency in an additional language, preferably Arabic.
  • Experience delivering exceptional guest service at luxury or high-end environments.
  • Exposure to underwater photography or videography.
  • Knowledge of marine fauna identification including fish, invertebrates, reptiles, and mammals.
  • Understanding or certification in gas blending techniques.

Job Context

This role functions within a premium dive center under Galaxea, ensuring dive operations are safe, reliable, and guest-oriented. It involves close coordination with operations, maintenance, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to guarantee all technical diving equipment is compliant, fully operational, and well maintained.
