About the Role
A major organization in Qatar is looking for an accomplished Head of Translation to oversee its translation function. The role focuses on delivering accurate, high-quality Arabic and English language services across the business while guiding a capable team in a fast-paced corporate setting.
Responsibilities
- Direct the translation department and make sure all work is completed accurately and within required timelines.
- Lead, coach, and support a team of translators and language professionals.
- Set up and uphold quality control standards and effective translation practices.
- Check and sign off on complex translations to ensure precision, consistency, and cultural suitability.
- Manage translation workloads and priorities across different business teams and stakeholders.
- Build and refine team workflows, operating procedures, and performance measures to raise productivity.
- Maintain strict discretion when dealing with confidential business materials.
- Promote ongoing improvements by using translation technology and terminology systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Linguistics, Arabic, English, or a closely related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- At least 10 years of professional translation experience, with a number of those years spent in a leadership or management capacity.
- Fluency in Arabic and English at native or near-native level, along with excellent written communication ability.
- Demonstrated success in managing and developing translation teams.
- Strong planning, coordination, stakeholder handling, and project management capabilities.
- Background in banking, legal, government, or large corporate environments will be an advantage.
- Working knowledge of Computer-Assisted Translation tools is preferred.
- Applicants currently based in Doha will be prioritized.
