About the Role
An established leader in healthcare distribution is seeking a Head of IT to oversee its technology operations during a significant phase of expansion and change. Located in South Dublin, this hybrid role requires a minimum of three days onsite weekly, with occasional travel within Ireland and internationally.
Reporting directly to the CEO and matrix reporting to the Group CIO, this strategic position involves directing the overall IT strategy and ensuring robust performance, security, and stability of the company’s technology environment. The Head of IT will lead a team of around 10 IT professionals, collaborating closely with senior leadership to foster digital transformation, promote operational excellence, and implement emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership in technology as part of the senior management team.
- Lead and motivate an IT department focused on exceptional service and strong business partnerships.
- Oversee the IT budget, manage vendor relationships, and supervise key service providers.
- Manage enterprise applications, cloud infrastructures, and end-user technologies.
- Ensure the organization’s IT operations maintain high standards of security, resilience, and regulatory compliance, particularly in cybersecurity and governance.
- Initiate continual enhancements to business systems and technology services.
- Deliver large-scale IT and digital transformation projects.
- Support business expansion activities including mergers, acquisitions, and systems integrations.
- Create and execute an Artificial Intelligence roadmap that yields tangible business benefits.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated leadership in managing IT operations and technology teams.
- Proven success in delivering complex technology projects and business transformations.
- Strong commercial understanding, including budget, vendor, and contract management.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and executive-level influence capabilities.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud, cybersecurity practices, and IT governance frameworks.
- Experience building and nurturing high-performance teams with a focus on ongoing improvement.
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with enterprise ERP systems such as SAP.
- Experience with Microsoft Power Platform tools including Power BI, Power Apps, or Power Automate.
- Background in software development.
- Expertise in AI-driven business solutions and automation.
- Experience managing mergers, acquisitions, and systems integration processes.
