Position Overview

The Head Hostess role is based in Doha, Qatar at a luxury hospitality property and is part of the Food and Beverage & Culinary department. This is a full-time, non-management position and is not a remote role.

Role Summary

This position is responsible for welcoming arriving guests, handling reservations, managing the wait list, coordinating seating, and ensuring the dining room is organized and guest-ready. The role also supports service flow by helping match seating assignments to station rotation and by maintaining a polished guest experience from arrival through seating.

Key Duties

  • Answer incoming calls, record dining reservations, and update guest details in the reservation system.
  • Track the waiting list and provide guests with accurate wait-time updates.
  • Assign tables using the station rotation plan and make seating decisions that support smooth service.
  • Coordinate seating arrangements for large parties and guests with special requirements.
  • Greet guests warmly, confirm party size, and escort them to available and clean tables.
  • Set up seating by pulling out chairs and placing current menus and standard table items for each guest.
  • Guide guests through the dining area and provide assistance as needed.
  • Ensure every place setting is complete, including napkins, clean cutlery, and other standard items.
  • Keep the host area and surrounding workspaces clean and orderly throughout the shift.
  • Observe dining room availability, service flow, and safety conditions.
  • Coordinate with teammates and other departments to meet guest needs and maintain strong team collaboration.
  • Support management with hiring, training, scheduling, performance review, counseling, discipline, and coaching activities.
