About Wyborn Capital
Wyborn Capital is a privately-owned family office managing a broad investment portfolio that includes property, finance, and equities. The organisation adopts a long-term investment philosophy and has solidified its presence across all portfolio sectors.
The finance team underpins the investment activities by offering comprehensive financial management and informed decision-making support. The company is actively advancing its finance function by incorporating AI and innovative technologies to modernise its operations.

Initially, the position will involve being hands-on with accounting, reporting, tax compliance, and financial controls, gradually transitioning to providing advanced analysis, reporting, and commercial insights as automation streamlines processes.
Reporting closely to the CFO, you will have full ownership and influence over the evolution of the finance team's operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily financial operations across a multi-entity family office, including ledger management, reconciliations, payments, and ensuring data integrity.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, cash flow projections, budgets, forecasts, and deliver financial insights to senior leadership.
- Administer New Zealand tax compliance covering GST, PAYE, RWT, FBT, and income tax obligations.
- Supervise group and property accounting tasks such as rental income management, expense tracking, arrears, intercompany accounting, and property reporting.
- Maintain stringent financial controls and oversee the accuracy of financial systems including Xero and Re-Leased.
- Leverage AI tools daily, including Claude and ChatGPT, to identify opportunities to simplify and automate finance workflows.
- Develop and deploy AI-enhanced workflows aimed at reducing manual tasks and boosting operational efficiency and financial control.
- Continuously document and assess process improvements and the measurable impact of automation, seeking further enhancement prospects.
- Assist the CFO with budgeting, investment evaluation, treasury functions, commercial decisions, and special financial projects.
- Ensure confidentiality and appropriate handling of all financial and personal data.
Candidate Profile
- Chartered Accountant qualified through Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand or equivalent, with 3–6 years of post-qualification experience.
- Proven experience using AI technologies such as Claude and ChatGPT regularly, with the ability to apply, validate, and demonstrate AI in financial workflows.
- Prior experience employing AI to enhance or automate finance processes effectively.
- Solid expertise in New Zealand tax regulations and financial reporting standards.
- Sound understanding of financial control principles, data privacy, and AI result verification.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and strong capabilities in Xero accounting software, with aptitude for quick adoption of new systems.
