About Queen of Apostles Primary School
This co-educational primary school accommodates approximately 440 students across two campuses: Prep to Year 2 at Chuter Street, Stafford Heights, and Years 3 to 6 at Thuruna Street. Role Overview
The Groundskeeper will play an important role in enhancing the school environment by improving gardens, grounds, playing fields, and outdoor surfaces at Queen of Apostles Primary School, Stafford.
- Position location: Queen of Apostles Primary School, Stafford Heights, Queensland.
- Start date: 31 August 2026.
- Weekly hours: 38 hours.
- Term time appointment on a continuing basis.
- Hourly salary: $34.17 plus superannuation.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve gardens, grounds, lawns, and playing fields through activities such as top dressing, seeding, turfing, coring, planting, trimming, mulching, and fertilising.
- Prepare sports ovals for events and carnivals, including marking out and line marking fields.
- Oversee, maintain, and participate in the operation and repair of pumps, irrigation, and drainage systems.
- Safely manage the distribution, storage, and application of organic and chemical pesticides, sprays, and fertilisers with accurate record keeping.
- Operate and maintain a variety of specialized machinery and equipment for turf and grounds care, performing routine maintenance.
- Supervise and provide training to grounds staff, tradespeople, and apprentices.
- Manage stores and facilities, ensuring effective stock control and documentation.
- Maintain a safe work environment for staff, students, and visitors in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in maintaining gardens, lawns, and various playing surfaces.
- Knowledgeable in operation and upkeep of pumps, irrigation, and drainage infrastructure.
- Competence in the safe handling, storage, and use of pesticides, sprays, and fertilisers alongside machinery operation.
- Strong organizational skills in managing stock, stores, and administrative records.
- Experience in supervising and training personnel including grounds workers and apprentices.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety compliance.
- Qualification equivalent to Certificate III level or completion of a relevant apprenticeship is highly desirable.
