Position Summary

Cowra Council is looking for a driven and enthusiastic Grounds Maintenance Attendant to join the Parks & Gardens team. This role is vital in ensuring all public parks, gardens, and open spaces managed by the council are maintained to a high standard—safe, attractive, and welcoming for community use.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform mowing and edging using whipper snippers
  • Conduct spraying and weed control activities
  • Carry out watering, mulching, and fertilisation tasks
  • Handle pruning and planting duties
  • Collect and dispose of waste properly
  • Operate a variety of tools, machinery, and equipment related to grounds maintenance

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience in grounds maintenance or related horticultural work
  • Competent and safe operation of plant and machinery such as mowers and chainsaws
  • Current Class C Driver Licence is mandatory
  • Possession of MR licence, chainsaw certification, and chemical application tickets considered advantageous
  • Ability to work collaboratively within teams and maintain a strong work ethic
  • Good organisational skills and customer-focused approach when working in public areas

Employment Details

  • Permanent full-time position
  • Working hours: 7am to 4pm (summer hours: 6:30am to 3:30pm)
