Overview

Nelson City Council is inviting planning graduates to join their Resource Consents team, contributing to sustainable development and management of natural and constructed environments. This role offers hybrid work flexibility in a supportive and professional setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and assess resource consent applications including land use and subdivision consents.
  • Perform planning reviews for building consent applications to ensure compliance.
  • Deliver customer-oriented advice, including participation in a duty planner schedule.
  • Compile clear, precise, and well-composed reports.
  • Engage actively in training, professional growth, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Candidate Profile

  • Recent graduate or someone early in their career holding a degree in planning or a closely related discipline.
  • Good understanding of the Resource Management Act and complementary legislation.
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Customer-centric mindset, with organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform well in high-pressure situations and work collaboratively within a team.
  • Possession of a full New Zealand driver's license.
