Role Overview

The Global Head of Logistics will be charged with formulating and executing a worldwide logistics and distribution strategy. This strategic leadership role ensures the seamless, cost-efficient, and resilient management of logistics operations spanning North America, Europe, and Asia. It involves standardizing and enhancing logistics practices, coordinating partner ecosystems, and supporting scalable business growth along with sustainability goals across a complex, matrix-driven environment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop and guide the comprehensive global logistics and distribution approach in alignment with corporate growth and business targets, defining policies and governance for transportation, warehousing, customs, and logistical footprint decisions.
• Manage end-to-end logistics operations including inbound, intercompany, outbound, and after-sales service logistics, maintaining superior service quality, operational dependability, and continual cost, lead time, inventory, and warehouse improvements.
• Lead the global logistics budget, partner strategies, freight procurement, and contract negotiations while establishing data-driven performance metrics through dashboards and reporting.
• Re-engineer distribution networks and core logistics processes by enhancing transportation routes and warehouse layouts, and spearheading major transformation projects such as automation and system integrations, balancing standardization and regional customization.
• Advance logistics digitization initiatives, enhance resilience and compliance, promote integration of systems like Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and proactively manage geopolitical, regulatory, capacity, and disruption challenges including customs adherence.
• Support sustainability objectives by lowering the environmental footprint of logistics operations and oversee an international logistics team while fostering collaborative partnerships with senior leaders across relevant functions such as Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, Finance, IT, and external logistics partners.

Candidate Qualifications

• Substantial professional experience in logistics, supply chain, or operations with a history of significant global leadership roles.
• Proven expertise within global industrial, manufacturing, or distribution environments, preferably in enterprises with revenues exceeding CHF/€1 billion.
• Successful track record in managing complex logistics networks across multiple regions and leading extensive transformation projects.
• In-depth knowledge of transportation, warehouse operations, international trade, customs processes, and third-party logistics provider management.
• Strong strategic and operational leadership abilities, with experience in delivering cost savings, performance enhancements, and high return on investment initiatives.
• Advanced digital capabilities, including guiding logistics software implementations such as WMS, TMS, and analytics platforms.
• Exceptional leadership, change management, and stakeholder engagement skills, adept at functioning within diverse and matrix-structured organizations.
• Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, or related disciplines; MBA or executive education qualifications are advantageous.
• Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in German, French, or Mandarin is considered beneficial.
