Position Overview
The Sales and Trading Assistant (SATA) supports the front office daily operations by ensuring accurate trade capture, life cycle event management, control adherence, and post-trade services. The role demands proactive initiative, precision, clear communication, and dedication in a dynamic front office environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide regional support across APAC, including Australia time zones.
- Manually enter and verify deals in front office systems against documentation.
- Amend or cancel options and spot/forward/swap trades as needed for sales and trading desks.
- Ensure segregation of duties by avoiding direct market activities like quoting prices or taking client orders.
- Promptly escalate issues or suspected fraud to management.
- Assist with local regulatory reporting requirements.
- Participate in projects such as portfolio migration, workflow improvements, and systems testing.
- Manage deal events including exercising and expiring options, confirming client exercise with counterparties, and performing daily expiry and barrier checks.
- Notify clients about option exercises or barrier triggers.
- Ensure non-deliverable forwards (NDFs) are fixed accurately and timely in the system.
- Update rate fixings from official sources and handle end-of-day spot closing and profit/loss validations for the Singapore Spot Desk.
- Coordinate setup of new trading portfolios and counterparty codes, liaising with client onboarding teams.
- Deliver trade recaps and term sheets to clients and resolve trade discrepancies in collaboration with support teams.
- Conduct system reconciliations following global guidelines and escalate breaks as necessary.
- Contribute to updating procedures, business continuity plans, audit recommendations, and IT projects.
- Serve as a point of contact for internal departments including market risk, collateral, credit, back office, middle office, and IT as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or Banking.
- 3 to 7 years of experience in FX-related roles, preferably in middle or front office assistant capacities.
- Strong knowledge of FX products and FX options.
- Solid understanding of market conventions, workflows, and transaction life cycles.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and in fast-paced settings.
- Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively.
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving aptitude.
- Awareness of risk implications for front office and operational risk management.
- Programming skills (VBA, Python) are advantageous.
- Familiarity with BNP Paribas systems is a plus.
- Willingness to work on Singapore public holidays.
