Food and Beverage Host

Role Overview

The Food and Beverage Host serves as the initial point of contact for guests, warmly greeting and escorting them to their tables while upholding the high hospitality standards of Lough Eske Castle. They play a vital role in preparing the restaurant environment for service and maintaining cleanliness. This role also involves managing reservations and overseeing the restaurant space in the absence of leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain in-depth knowledge of daily operations including scheduled activities, in-house group details, and daily occupancy counts.
• Familiarize with hotel contact numbers, internal communication devices, operational hours, ambiance, menu selections, and pricing across all outlets.
• Supervise all restaurant facets during any absence of restaurant management.
• Prepare and stock the Host/Hostess station and ensure it remains clean; report supply shortages promptly.
• Answer restaurant phone calls courteously and efficiently as per department guidelines.
• Record, confirm, and manage restaurant reservations and cancellations, coordinating with Front of House to synchronize reservation records.
• Support the Restaurant Manager in optimizing seating arrangements to maximize capacity.
• Inspect and ensure cleanliness and proper setup of restaurant environment, entrance areas, tables, menus, wine lists, and reading materials.
• Document guest preferences into the Springer Miller system and communicate V.I.P. arrivals or special requests to relevant personnel.
• Prepare station charts and allocate staff to sections following established procedures.
• Assist servers in table setup during service for optimal guest experience.
• Maintain positive guest relations through courteous greetings and farewells, anticipating and responding promptly to guest needs.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

• Possession of a valid food handling certificate.
• Effective English communication skills for interactions with guests, management, and colleagues.
• Legible written communication and basic math calculation capabilities.
• Understanding of guest service requirements and POS system proficiency.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain focus and multitask during busy service times.
• Attention to detail, good judgment especially in identifying intoxicated guests, and physical capability to handle stock movement.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Availability to work on weekends.

This position requires the candidate to work on-site at Lough Eske Castle, County Donegal, Ireland. Candidates should be prepared to exert physical effort for tasks such as moving liquor cases and beer kegs.
