Job Overview

The Fleet Officer role involves providing critical assistance in executing Dangote Industries Limited's (DIL) transport policies and procedures, primarily focusing on organizing and coordinating the movement of cement products and materials between the Plant and authorized locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee vehicular traffic flow including loading and unloading activities to maintain smooth and orderly depot operations within the Plant.
  • Ensure incoming materials are properly stored in their designated plant facilities.
  • Coordinate the loading of cement products onto trucks assigned for delivery to approved external destinations.
  • Guarantee that all logistics tasks conform strictly to DIL's Health, Safety, and Environmental protocols.
  • Manage the prompt and efficient loading of customer trucks with products using a First-In-First-Out (FIFO) system.
  • Produce regular logistics activity reports from the Plant and suggest improvements where necessary.
  • Ensure recovery of AGO (Automotive Gas Oil) expenses for short-distance transport.
  • Ensure timely collection and processing of accident and related documentation.
  • Verify that vehicles transporting raw materials come from approved locations when collection is feasible.
  • Allocate vehicles promptly for procurement of spare parts or other plant needs, coordinating with transporters on truck arrivals, breakdowns, and emergencies.
  • Undertake additional tasks as directed by the Head of Department or senior management.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in Business, Transport & Logistics, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least three years of professional experience in transport management.
