Position Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Financial Controller to lead our accounting operations and financial reporting within the real estate and construction sector. This fully remote, full-time contract position based in Mexico reports directly to the CFO and starts immediately. The role involves overseeing the transition from outsourced accounting to an in-house finance function, maintaining General Ledger accuracy, and managing scalable financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the General Ledger with complete responsibility for its accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain and update the Chart of Accounts effectively.
- Lead the shift from outsourced to internal accounting operations.
- Oversee monthly close procedures, bank reconciliations, and cash flow monitoring.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and executive reports.
- Analyze Profit & Loss statements and financial performance across various business units.
- Supervise Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams, reviewing payroll, invoices, expenses, and vendor payments.
- Coordinate payroll tax, sales tax, and year-end tax reporting.
- Ensure strict adherence to company policies, financial controls, and confidentiality of financial data.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proven track record as a Financial Controller or Senior Accountant responsible for the full General Ledger.
- Strong expertise in month-end close and financial reporting processes.
- Proficient in QuickBooks and financial software handling.
- Experience supervising accounting or bookkeeping teams.
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and internal controls.
- High integrity and discretion in managing confidential financial information.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills in English (C1/C2 level).
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting aligned with US business hours.
Preferred Experience
- Background in leading accounting transitions or process enhancements.
- Familiarity with project accounting tools like BigTime or equivalents.
- Experience in sectors such as professional services, construction, architecture, engineering, or luxury design industries.
- Relevant certifications like CPA considered advantageous.
