Role Overview

The Financial Analyst position, based in Toronto, ON, involves delivering prompt and precise presentations related to financial and operational performance to finance and operations leaders. The role ensures adherence to quarterly reporting protocols and plays a critical role in budgeting and forecasting processes by tracking performance against targets. This position also encourages proactive collaboration with colleagues, operational leads, administrative personnel, and finance teams to suggest and implement process enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead key activities in the month-end closing process, including preparing and posting monthly journal entries with supporting documentation and accurate report data translation.
• Record accurate business transactions through journal entries, covering areas such as business operations reporting and fixed asset ledger maintenance.
• Maintain and update prepayment schedules to ensure correct expense postings in the ledger.
• Analyze transactions in the general ledger, identifying and investigating discrepancies.
• Conduct monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts including intercompany accounts and resolve any inconsistencies.
• Assist in preparing materials for presentations to senior management and external reporting requirements.
• Maintain professionalism and integrity within the business environment.
• Communicate progress and provide regular status updates to supervisors.
• Comply with company health and safety policies, actively engage in safety initiatives, and report potential hazards promptly.
• Ensure proper adherence to safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment as necessary.
• Uphold privacy and confidentiality principles concerning clients, caregivers, families, and the healthcare team, securing necessary consents where required.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in financial reporting or accounting roles.
• Enrollment in a CPA program (CA, CMA, CGA) is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with full-cycle accounting, particularly month-end close processes and journal entry preparation.
• Experience managing multi-entity accounting is advantageous.
• Ability to meet stringent deadlines and perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations accurately.
• Familiarity with Netsuite is considered a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially advanced Excel skills.
