Overview

The Facilities Services Worker III plays a crucial role at the UBC Okanagan campus, focusing on enforcing traffic and parking regulations, managing parking facilities, and supporting parking services operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for inquiries and complaints related to parking from faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
- Monitor parking enforcement systems and issue citations for violations.
- Coordinate the installation and removal of immobilization devices on vehicles with multiple violations.
- Provide support for campus events by managing parking signage and traffic control as needed.
- Report and assist with maintenance of parking lots, including repairs, resurfacing, line painting, and cleaning.
- Assist in installation and upkeep of parking meters, ticket dispensers, lighting, and signage.
- Manage equipment inventory to ensure all parking infrastructure remains operational.
- Monitor and report on the condition of parking lot equipment and vehicles to management.
- Perform snow removal around ticket dispensers when necessary.
- Collect and process coinage and funds from parking meters and ticket dispensers, coordinating with financial departments.
- Maintain and update computerized parking services databases.
- Assist with financial reconciliations, refunds, bank deposits, and revenue statements as required.
- Operate electronic payment systems and maintain related equipment.
- Provide backup support to other Parking Compliance Officers and Administrative Coordinators as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent preferred.
- More than one year of relevant experience.
- Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license.
- Basic Security Training Level I & II, Provincial Security license, and/or By-Law Enforcement Level I course considered assets.
- Familiarity with business machines, radios, computers, laptops, and associated software.
- Proven ability to operate vehicles safely and courteously.
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to established procedures and standards.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of polite and tactful interactions with diverse campus members and public.
- Good judgment in decision-making and handling enforcement situations.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 30 kilograms and performing snow removal tasks.
- Ability to stand, walk for long periods, as well as kneel and crouch during duties.
- Commitment to respecting diverse perspectives and improving equity, diversity, and inclusion awareness.
Additional Information
This role reports to the Manager of Parking Services and operates under limited supervision. While no direct supervisory responsibilities exist, sound judgment and policy adherence are critical to uphold the department's reputation. Employment is ongoing with a monthly salary range of CAD 3959 to CAD 4539. Applications are accepted until July 25, 2026, 11:59 PM.
