Job description

Role Overview

Briscoe Group is seeking a skilled Facilities Manager to ensure the smooth operation, safety, and upkeep of its store network across New Zealand. Reporting directly to the National Portfolio & Contracts Manager, the Facilities Manager will supervise planned and reactive maintenance activities, oversee contractor performance, and handle facilities service delivery. This position serves as the escalation point for handling complex or urgent facility issues while balancing safety, cost, and operational continuity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day facilities and maintenance service delivery throughout the Briscoe Group stores.
  • Drive contractor performance, ensure service delivery excellence, and resolve operational issues promptly.
  • Oversee planned and reactive maintenance for facilities and equipment, prioritising work based on safety, compliance, impact, and expenses.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with store teams, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Monitor facilities budgets, expenditure, and forecasts, identifying opportunities to enhance value and reduce recurrence of costs.
  • Keep accurate records on facilities compliance, workflows, and reporting; suggest and implement process improvements.
  • Provide daily leadership, guidance, and support to the Facilities & Property Coordinator, including task prioritisation.
  • Support after-hours facility incidents, emergencies, and contribute to broader property initiatives.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

  • A minimum of five years' experience in facilities management, property maintenance, retail operations, or contractor coordination across multiple locations.
  • Proven ability to manage contractor health and safety, NZ Building Code compliance, and Building Warrant of Fitness (BWOF) regulations.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen in managing costs and budgets within facilities operations.
  • Strong communicator with excellent stakeholder management and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficient in utilizing facilities management systems, registers, and generating reports.
  • Experience offering day-to-day coaching, leadership, and workflow management.
  • Educational background including a diploma in Property and/or Facilities Management or equivalent related experience.
