Role overview
PrepWorld is seeking a dependable, hands-on Facilities Assistant to help keep its busy production site running smoothly. The role plays an important part in supporting a safe, hygienic, well-maintained, and efficient working environment. You will work alongside production and site colleagues, carrying out a broad mix of facilities-related tasks so that people, equipment, and day-to-day operations can function at a high standard.
This position suits someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in doing things properly, and can perform well in a fast-moving environment.
Main duties
- Respond to and action facilities requests.
- Carry out cleaning tasks where needed, including air-conditioning cassettes and vents.
- Complete effluent checks such as V-notch inspections, tank cleaning, emptying prior samples, and cleaning sampler tubes.
- Monitor doors and carry out daily walkthroughs of the site.
- Check water tanks and record water meter readings with photos.
- Inspect drainage, including marking SW/F/I and completing drainage inspections.
- Take water effluent samples as required.
- Support contractor coordination and site access management.
- Complete permits to work, inductions, and health questionnaires.
- Use email, computer, phone, and walkie-talkie systems effectively.
- Carry out fire alarm testing.
- Communicate clearly with colleagues across all levels of the business.
- Assist the Engineering team when workload allows.
Skilled duties
- Handle minor repair work.
- Support basic carpentry tasks.
- Carry out painting and decorating work.
- Use power tools safely and appropriately.
- Unblock toilets and drains, including rodding when needed.
- Complete pest-control related remedial actions.
- Perform AHU checks.
- Wall-mount items in accordance with Argent cold store panel policy.
Qualifications and desirable experience
- Electrical qualification is desirable.
- Plumbing qualification or practical plumbing experience is desirable.
- PAT qualification is desirable.
- FLT certificate is desirable.
- Scissor lift / IPAF certification is desirable, although this can be completed in-house.
Key relationships
Success in this role depends on strong stakeholder management. You will work closely with teams across the business, especially on health and safety matters.
Person specification
- Solid understanding of facilities management.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively at all levels.
- Ability to anticipate risks before they arise.
- Excellent attention to detail.
Working pattern
Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 08:00 am to 17:00 pm.
No weekend work is currently required, though occasional out-of-hours support may be needed, possibly on a Friday morning or evening.
