Environmental Services Technician

Overview

Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, AL is looking for a full-time Environmental Services Technician to contribute to a safe and sanitary healthcare environment. The role covers evening shifts from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., focusing on cleaning and disinfecting patient and operating rooms along with common areas to reduce infection risks. The technician manages waste disposal, restocks essential supplies, maintains floors and surfaces, and promptly addresses urgent cleaning tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Sanitize patient rooms, operating theaters, and shared spaces to prevent infection transmission.
• Dispose of medical and hazardous waste according to hospital safety standards.
• Replenish supplies including gloves, masks, and cleaning materials in hospital departments.
• Maintain the cleanliness of floors, restrooms, and other surfaces using specialized cleaning tools and chemicals.
• Handle urgent cleaning demands such as spill response and contamination, utilizing communication devices for coordination.
• Ensure overall cleanliness within hospital and related facilities, which may necessitate independent travel between sites.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate effectively is mandatory.
• Preferred: minimum one year of experience in environmental services within an acute care hospital setting.
• Preferred: high school diploma or equivalent qualification.
