Electrical Maintenance Technician

Role Overview

The Electrical Maintenance Technician is tasked with performing scheduled, condition-based, and corrective upkeep for electrical systems and devices to guarantee safety, reliability, and smooth operation within the plant. This role involves diagnosing electrical issues, assisting with plant operational processes, and adhering strictly to safety and electrical regulations.

Key Duties

• Conduct preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on various electrical units and systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair components including motors, pumps, motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), switchgear, transformers, and power distribution systems across low and medium voltage levels.
• Maintain and inspect electrical panels, circuit breakers, relays, and control circuits.
• Assist with plant operations such as start-ups, shutdowns, and commissioning procedures.
• Track and analyze the electrical performance of plant equipment to forecast potential failures.
• Interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and wiring plans accurately.
• Liaise with operations, mechanical, and instrumentation teams to reduce downtime.
• Keep detailed maintenance logs, generate reports, and manage spare parts inventory.
• Provide emergency maintenance support on rotational shifts as needed.

Safety and Compliance

• Strictly follow safety guidelines, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols and permit-to-work procedures.

Qualifications and Expertise

• Possess a Diploma, ITI, or Technical Certificate in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology.
• Have 3 to 5 years of industrial experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in water treatment, wastewater, or desalination sectors; experience in oil and gas or similar industrial environments is advantageous.
• Familiarity with PLC and SCADA systems, VFDs, MCCs, and low/medium voltage electrical infrastructures.
• Comprehensive understanding of electrical safety standards and operational procedures.

Equipment Experience

• Skilled in maintaining high-pressure reverse osmosis pumps, feed water pumps, MCC panels, transformers, generators, and uninterrupted power supply (UPS) systems.
