Electrical Fitter

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Fitter to join our Auckland Maintenance team to ensure the safe and dependable operation of Auckland's power network. This role involves hands-on work in a substation environment supporting high-voltage equipment maintenance, fault diagnosis, switching operations, outage scheduling, and electrical fitting activities. The position requires a rotating shift schedule including day, night, and occasional weekend shifts to support network and planned outage operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and service high-voltage electrical equipment within substations.
• Perform electrical fitting tasks adhering to industry and regulatory standards.
• Conduct both high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) network switching operations.
• Plan and coordinate outages to align with client needs.
• Diagnose faults and resolve network-related issues efficiently.
• Maintain detailed records, reports, and documentation accurately.
• Collaborate closely with Control, Dispatch, customers, contractors, and internal teams to support network reliability.
• Contribute actively to fostering a strong safety culture and continuous improvement processes.

Candidate Profile

• Fully Registered New Zealand Electrician with a current EWRB Practising Licence.
• Demonstrable experience as an Electrical Fitter with exposure to network switching and operation in substations or HV electrical settings.
• Possession of a full Class 1 New Zealand Driver's Licence.
• Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic capabilities.
• Proactive problem-solving mindset with strong independent and teamwork skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills paired with a professional, respectful manner when engaging customers and the public.
• Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
• Strong dedication to health, safety, and environmental protocols.
