Job description

Position Overview

The role of Electrical and Automation Technician at our Riyadh facility involves providing daily electrical support to the factory operations. Key activities include performing preventative maintenance and assisting with both capital and exceptional maintenance projects. Strong communication skills and collaboration across departments are essential. Candidates should be self-driven, manage time efficiently, and be capable of executing electrical projects and repairs on site with limited oversight. The technician will receive guidance from an experienced E&A Technician mentor during onboarding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and utilize electrical skills related to PLCs including Pico, Micro, CompactLogix, SLC500, ControlLogix, Guardlogix, and PLC-5.
  • Handle servo technologies such as Ultra, Kinetix 5500 and 5700 alongside other types.
  • Work with network protocols including Ethernet/IP, Sercos, DH-485, DH+, and Remote I/O.
  • Manage safety hardware like Guard I/O and safety relays.
  • Operate and maintain drives from Schneider, ABB, and Siemens.
  • Use specialized software tools such as RSLinx, Drive Executive, RSLogix (5, 500, 5000), PanelBuilder32, FactoryTalk View, Asset Centre, BOOTP-DHCP Server, RSNetworx, and Siemens-specific applications.
  • Possess computer skills with software including Electrical Software, Outlook, Excel, Word, SAP, AutoCAD, and SharePoint.
  • Employ electrical testing devices such as multimeters for various measurements (AC/DC voltage, amperage, milliamps, millivolts, ohms, frequency, min/max readings) and calibration equipment like calibration testers and dry blocks for troubleshooting plant issues.
  • Complete daily startup electrical checklists.
  • Collaborate within small teams for removal and installation of equipment.
  • Maintain strong cooperation with equipment operators and line leaders.
  • Follow all plant policies, safety regulations, GMP standards, and maintain cleanliness standards.
  • Assist fellow maintenance technicians in enhancing their electrical abilities.
  • Work on optimizing maintenance and operational costs related to electrical and process control systems.
  • Enhance hardware and software for electrical/process control to uphold plant efficiency, safety, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with various departments to support capital investment initiatives, market programs, and global projects.
  • Troubleshoot issues ensuring proper maintenance of PLC, HMI, and MES applications.
  • Maintain automation layer industrial applications and hardware.
  • Strictly follow PLC and HMI change management procedures.
  • Maintain reliability and performance of FAS IT infrastructure and peer-to-peer networks.
  • Work closely with quality, safety, operations, and production teams with emphasis on QMS, HAACP, and calibration compliance.
  • Function well within a team environment encompassing multiple departments.
  • Display a strong eagerness to learn continuously.

Candidate Requirements

  • Associate Degree or equivalent in an Industrial Electrical technical field such as Automation Systems Technology or Electrical Industrial discipline.
  • Basic troubleshooting proficiency with strong written and verbal communication skills capable of interpreting technical literature and documentation.
  • Knowledge of electrical equipment including switchboards, motor control centers (MCCs), panel boards, and control cabinets.
  • Ability to read and understand safety rules, operational procedures, and maintenance manuals.
  • Competence in writing routine technical reports and correspondence.
  • Mathematical ability to perform calculations involving whole numbers, fractions, decimals, rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret bar graphs.
  • Good reasoning skills to solve practical problems involving diverse variables where standard procedures may not exist, and interpreting instructions presented in various formats including written, spoken, diagrammatic, or schedules.
