Role Overview
The position of Educational Counselor is a full-time, on-campus role situated in Monrovia. This professional is entrusted with offering individualized and group counseling services focusing on academic planning, program selection, and study techniques. Responsibilities extend to career guidance, facilitating internship and professional development opportunities, helping students establish achievable goals and action plans. Daily tasks entail conducting counseling meetings, organizing educational workshops and seminars, partnering with faculty and administrative personnel, and keeping detailed student records and reports. Additionally, the counselor supports student orientation, identifies learners requiring extra help, and directs them to appropriate campus resources when needed.
Qualifications and Skills
- Expertise in educational advising to assist students in making informed academic program choices.
- Proficiency in student counseling addressing academic, personal, and social adjustment challenges.
- Competence in career counseling to aid students in career exploration, planning, and job market readiness.
- Excellent communication skills including active listening, articulate verbal and written expression, and adaptability to diverse student backgrounds.
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or related fields; counseling certification is a plus.
- Prior experience in a university or educational environment, especially in student services or advising roles.
- Ability to uphold confidentiality, show cultural awareness, and use digital tools for documentation and communication purposes.
- Strong organizational abilities to effectively handle multiple student cases and programming.
