Role Overview

The Drainage & Wastewater Advisor position is a full-time, onsite opportunity located in Doha, Qatar. The role supports planning, designing, and assessing drainage and wastewater systems within infrastructure projects. Daily tasks involve reviewing technical drawings and specifications, evaluating system capacities and performance metrics, and offering expert advice on drainage and wastewater solutions consistent with local laws and sustainability objectives.

This role requires coordination with civil, geotechnical, and infrastructure teams, preparation of technical reports, contribution to tender and project documentation, and advising on risk reduction related to subsurface conditions. Additionally, the advisor is responsible for overseeing quality control activities, monitoring construction and operational phases, and collaborating with project stakeholders to ensure safety, compliance, and operational efficiency of drainage and wastewater systems.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong consulting abilities including stakeholder management, delivering technical advice, and formulating clear, evidence-supported recommendations.
  • Experience working on infrastructure projects related to drainage networks, wastewater management, and urban or industrial infrastructure.
  • Professional civil engineering background with expertise in hydraulic design, sewer and stormwater system modeling, and infrastructure planning.
  • Understanding of geotechnical engineering principles relevant to subterranean utilities, soil and groundwater interactions, and their impact on drainage foundations.
  • Proven quality control experience involving inspections, technical review processes, compliance verification, and standards enhancement.
  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field; advanced qualifications or certifications such as chartered/registered engineer status are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with both international and local standards, codes, and environmental regulations pertinent to wastewater and drainage systems.
  • Proficiency in engineering and design software including hydraulic modeling tools and CAD, coupled with robust analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary and multicultural teams, and willingness to be based on-site in Doha.
