Overview
The District Manager role entails full responsibility for the performance and operations of approximately 10-15 retail locations within the district. Acting as a business owner, the manager ensures each store provides exceptional customer service, achieves operational excellence, and fosters professional growth among Store Management teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Increase district same-store sales growth to meet or exceed the prior year results.
- Maintain or improve district fuel break-even performance against last year.
- Implement and enforce Standard Operating Procedures to support consistent growth.
- Achieve or surpass goals for SMG (Store Management Group) and OSAT (Overall Satisfaction) scores.
- Oversee successful and timely openings of new store sites, ensuring they are fully staffed with trained employees.
- Drive merchandise gross margin growth per store according to plan.
- Meet or exceed targeted promotional sales goals.
- Ensure stores follow and maintain plan-o-gram layouts.
- Control district operational expenses to stay within or under budget (pre-maintenance refresh).
- Achieve targeted district safety metrics, including Total Recordable Injury Rate goals.
- Manage and reduce shrinkage rates to meet or beat plan.
- Fill Store Management positions with strong succession plans in place.
- Support and sustain company-wide initiatives and rollouts.
- Optimize store operating hours.
- Accurately identify main competitors in the market.
- Analyze and leverage district-wide market trends.
- Maintain clear communication with Fuel Pricing and Merchandising departments to optimize margins.
- Ensure compliance with fuel and merchandising programs.
- Efficiently manage the CTM (Customer Transaction Management) program.
- Develop leadership and skills within Store Managers.
- Promote active demonstration of company principles and core competencies by store teams.
- Conduct consistent and effective performance reviews across the district.
- Perform regular store visits in line with company guidelines.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess broad knowledge across areas such as accounting, marketing, business administration, and finance. The role requires an educational background equivalent to a bachelor's degree supplemented by 12 to 18 months of relevant professional experience or a comparable mix of education and practical experience.
