Director, Research and Learning

Overview

America Is All In showcases the impactful role of subnational leadership in addressing climate change across the United States. Established in 2017 in response to the U.S. withdrawal from the Paris Agreement, it partners with cities, states, tribal nations, businesses, schools, and faith and health institutions to amplify local climate efforts and elevate U.S. subnational leadership both domestically and globally.

Role Summary

The Director of Research and Learning is responsible for devising and implementing All In's research strategy. This includes managing commissioned research, collaborating with academic and research institutions, and serving the information needs of All In’s partners. The role ensures All In becomes a trusted source on U.S. subnational climate and clean energy initiatives by delivering credible data products for varied audiences. The Director will identify research gaps, create a centralized knowledge hub, and document the outcomes of subnational climate actions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the formulation of a research agenda aligning with All In's domestic and international climate objectives.
• Manage All In-branded and partner research projects, including budget, timelines, and resource allocation.
• Commission and collaborate on research products, overseeing methodology, data, and dissemination.
• Coordinate research outputs with prominent climate events like New York Climate Week and COP.
• Maintain and expand partnerships with academic institutions, think tanks, and research centers.
• Develop a learning hub to centralize research and resources accessible to All In partners, aiding policy and engagement efforts.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning internally and among key partners.
• Engage regularly with stakeholders to assess research needs, identify gaps, and provide strategic collaboration.
• Represent All In in coalitions, research collaboratives, and public forums to advocate and share knowledge.
• Monitor field trends, analyze barriers and opportunities, and integrate insights from broader issue areas.
• Support communications by translating research into impactful messages across various channels.
• Manage consultants and external teams; establish transparent workflows and report regularly to funders.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Over 7 years of experience in academic or applied research focused on climate and clean energy policy; a master’s degree in a related discipline preferred.
• Professional background in climate, energy, or policy analysis and handling intricate multi-stakeholder research initiatives.
• Knowledge of market and industry data analyses.
• Proven expertise in managing complex partnerships, promoting collaboration across diverse audiences, and driving aligned action.
• Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
• Excellent analytical skills with adaptability to evolving conditions.
• Familiarity with international climate research and forums like UNFCCC is an advantage.
• Comfortable working in a flexible, start-up style environment with a small team.

Compensation and Working Conditions

The role is remote within the United States and requires working Monday through Friday from 9 am to 6 pm EST, with occasional weekend and evening commitments. Occasional domestic and international travel is expected. The administrative home is the Climate Power Education Fund.

Salary is structured based on years of experience with predetermined steps; ranges from $129,500 to $165,896 annually depending on experience.
