Director of Procurement

Overview

The Director of Procurement at Megawatt Construction is charged with steering procurement activities for all data center construction projects. This key leadership role entails crafting and applying procurement strategies, managing vendor partnerships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely, cost-efficient procurement of goods and services. The position requires close coordination with project stakeholders, finance, and operational units to align procurement efforts with company objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Formulate and implement procurement strategies aimed at reducing costs, improving quality, and meeting delivery schedules consistent with organizational goals.
• Identify, assess, and cultivate robust relationships with suppliers to guarantee reliability, quality, and competitive pricing.
• Lead contract negotiations and oversee management of agreements, ensuring legal compliance and advantageous terms.
• Supervise the entire procurement cycle—from requisition through sourcing, purchasing, and delivery—ensuring compliance and operational efficiency.
• Prepare and control procurement budgets, monitor spending, and execute cost-saving measures without sacrificing quality standards.
• Manage and develop a skilled procurement team, promoting continuous growth and improvement.
• Collaborate across departments including project management, finance, and operations to align procurement with project timelines and organizational targets.
• Monitor market trends and supply chain changes to anticipate risks and uncover procurement opportunities.
• Ensure procurement activities adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical practices; proactively identify and mitigate associated risks.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of procurement or supply chain experience, including no less than 5 years in a leadership capacity managing procurement for large-scale construction projects.
• Preferred certifications include Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP).
• Proven negotiation, analytical, and strategic planning skills alongside expertise in procurement software and ERP systems.
• Thorough knowledge of procurement operations, construction industry requirements, and supply chain management principles.
• Strong understanding of procurement-related laws, regulations, and ethical standards with a record of compliance.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or related discipline is required.
• A Master's degree is advantageous.
