About the Role
We are seeking a distinguished Director of Communications based in Doha, Qatar, to spearhead and build the communications function of a major global investment institution amid a pivotal period of international growth and transformation. This senior leadership position offers the unique chance to craft the organization's strategic messaging, oversee reputation management, and engage key stakeholders across diverse geographies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute a comprehensive global communications strategy that aligns with institutional goals.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leaders on managing corporate reputation, crafting the institutional narrative, and enhancing stakeholder engagement.
- Establish and expand a top-tier communications team including structuring, recruiting, and mentoring.
- Forge and sustain strong relationships with premier international financial media outlets.
- Convert complex investment information into clear, compelling, and trustworthy stories for various audiences.
- Lead the institution’s efforts in external, internal, digital, and content-driven communications.
- Oversee communications in delicate stakeholder environments such as government bodies, regulatory authorities, and institutional investors.
- Develop and implement crisis communication frameworks and protocols to manage sensitive situations effectively.
- Create a high-performance culture within the communications function through leadership and team development.
Candidate Profile
- Between 15 to 20 years of executive-level experience in senior communications roles.
- Proven expertise in financial services, investment management, sovereign wealth funds, asset management, or allied sectors.
- Track record of building or transforming communications operations within large, multifaceted organizations.
- In-depth knowledge of financial markets and specific investment communication challenges.
- Well-established connections with international media, notably financial and business press.
- Exceptional skills in stakeholder relationship management, trusted judgement, and discretion.
- Experience managing and nurturing multidisciplinary communications teams.
- Exposure to sovereign wealth funds, central banks, government-linked investment entities, or related institutions is an advantage.
- Familiarity with the Gulf region and its institutional environment is a preferred attribute.
