What the job involves
In this role, you will handle home insurance claims from the initial assessment stage through to final resolution. Drawing on your practical building and construction knowledge, you will examine claim details, evaluate property damage, work out the repair scope, and prepare repair and restoration estimates.
You will also work with customers, builders, repairers, and internal teams to keep claims moving efficiently, ensure repair options are realistic and cost-effective, and support customers throughout the process.
Key duties
- Assess claim files, photos, reports, and quotes to understand the extent of property damage.
- Define repair requirements and produce accurate costings.
- Discuss and agree repair pricing and outcomes with builders and repair partners.
- Manage claims through to closure while meeting time and budget expectations.
- Recommend repair solutions, cash settlement options, and temporary accommodation needs where relevant.
- Keep customers and other stakeholders informed and aligned on progress.
Experience and capability required
- Background in building, construction, trades, or estimating, with the ability to transfer that knowledge into property claims work.
- Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing detailed scopes of work.
- Willingness to learn the insurance industry through a structured training program.
- Strong organisation and a careful approach to detail.
- Comfort handling phone-based work and administration while maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management ability.
