Overview

The Designer role at Crate and Barrel is centered on assisting customers in realizing their home design aspirations, blending knowledge of the latest trends with personalized service. Designers build lasting client relationships by helping furnish anything from entire homes to accent pieces. Well-versed across design styles from classic to contemporary, they utilize digital platforms for in-store and remote consultations to bring designs to life, while also actively engaging in sales and customer relationship development.

Key Responsibilities

• Generate sales and deliver exceptional customer experiences through comprehensive design consultations both in-store, in-home, and virtually.
• Create sophisticated design presentations including moodboards, 2D and 3D floor plans, and product proposals using preferred design software.
• Manage customer projects ensuring delivery within agreed timelines.
• Maintain a deep understanding of brand aesthetics and merchandising strategies across Store, E-Commerce and Catalog channels.
• Stay informed on product specifications, care guidelines, and competitive industry trends.
• Meet individual sales targets, key performance indicators, and productivity standards by employing effective selling techniques.
• Actively listen and identify customer needs, promoting loyalty programs and credit services.
• Model exemplary service attitudes, providing prompt and gracious assistance to all customers.
• Support in-store training efforts to enhance awareness of design offerings among staff.
• Build and nurture enduring client relationships through networking and personalized clienteling.
• Apply foundational design principles such as spatial planning, fabric and lighting selection, and interior styling.
• Exhibit excellent communication skills to translate brand vision and meet client expectations accurately.
• Utilize technology proficiently, including 2D/3D design tools, Google Suite, video conferencing, and iPads.
• Keep current with emerging design trends and adapt to evolving business needs with agility.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of one year experience in furniture sales, home decor design, or related retail/customer service settings.
• Proven ability to work directly with clients, advising and recommending appropriate solutions.
• Experience and proficiency in virtual communication and design tools, alongside Google platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to uphold design quality and maintain long-term customer relationships.
