Role overview
Goltens Worldwide is seeking a Design Engineer for its Green Technology team in Singapore. This position reports into the Green Manager for Green Technology and Business Manager - Product & System and Green Technology. The role focuses on electrical design work for marine and offshore projects, with involvement across engineering, documentation, project coordination, and site-related activities.
Key responsibilities
- Develop electrical systems for ships and offshore assets.
- Build electrical load schedules and single-line diagrams.
- Carry out short-circuit and circuit breaker calculations.
- Choose suitable electrical equipment for the project scope.
- Prepare cable schedules, cable tray layouts, MCT layouts, cable routing plans, and termination diagrams.
- Create electrical material take-offs.
- Apply knowledge of automation integration topics such as vessel ISCS, VRCS, AMS, and related systems.
- Produce design drawings and supporting technical documentation.
- Handle project management tasks, planning, customer coordination, and site visits, including client offices and vessels.
Required qualifications and technical skills
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred; a diploma or degree in Marine Electrical Systems is also preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Hands-on experience with 2D and 3D ship design tools such as Cadmatic, AutoCAD, and point-cloud modeling software.
- Understanding of classification society rules, statutory requirements, marine safety standards, technical codes, and other ship-related engineering regulations.
- Good project management capability.
- Familiarity with classification bodies and guidelines such as DNVGL, ABS, LR, CCS, BV, and NK.
