Job description
Role Overview
At Mumzworld, we are seeking a Demand Planner to create and take charge of forecasting and inventory planning specifically for our Private Label products. This role involves establishing an entirely new process tailored to our expanding own-brand product range across different categories and markets.
You will ensure that our Private Label items are optimally stocked—available in the right quantities, at the right locations, and at the appropriate times—while minimizing capital tied up in surplus inventory.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop demand forecasts by constructing models that take into account product categories, seasonal trends, promotional activities, and product launches, maintaining oversight on forecast accuracy, bias, and stockout rates from the start.
- Oversee inventory and supply planning by managing replenishment cycles, purchase orders, lead times, minimum order quantities, and safety stock levels to avoid stockouts and overstock situations. Monitor obsolete and excess stock to safeguard profit margins and cash flow.
- Collaborate with category management, sourcing, and production teams to schedule new product launches, ensuring timely product availability without delays or shortages.
- Enhance planning processes by introducing and implementing forecasting tools and scenario models to replace manual spreadsheets, working alongside Category, Supply Chain, and Data teams to ensure lasting adoption.
- Create reporting frameworks and establish regular planning meetings (S&OP) to maintain transparency regarding supply and demand, representing the Private Label planning function across relevant departments including Sourcing, Commercial, Marketplace, Marketing, and Finance.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in demand planning, supply and inventory management, or S&OP, preferably with hands-on experience in designing a planning process from ground zero.
- Experience in private label products, FMCG, retail, or e-commerce sectors.
- Proven capability managing SKU portfolios comprehensively, encompassing new product introductions and lifecycle or discontinuation strategies.
- Strong analytical proficiency with comfort using Excel, ERP platforms, and business intelligence tools.
- A pragmatic, data-oriented mindset that understands the effective use of automation versus manual intervention.
Success Metrics
- Improved forecast accuracy with reduced instances of stockouts and excess inventory.
- Increased sell-through rates and higher success rates for new product launches.
- Enhanced inventory turnover and better utilization of working capital.
- Successful adoption of planning tools leading to a decline in manual tasks.
- Consistent alignment between supply and demand functions across sourcing, logistics, and commercial teams.
Role Significance
The Private Label segment remains a critical source of margin and customer loyalty at Mumzworld. This position offers the opportunity to build a smarter, more resilient planning framework from the ground up, ensuring reliable availability of our own-brand products for mothers and families who rely on us. You will own the day-to-day planning cadence and act as the central liaison for supply-demand synchronization across the organization, shaping the future of one of Mumzworld’s key capabilities.
