About the Role

As a Department Manager in Training for the deli section, you'll engage in a comprehensive development program designed to cultivate leadership capabilities, enabling you to manage a high-performance department and deliver outstanding results for customers, colleagues, and the store.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with store leadership to comprehend and help achieve critical business metrics such as profit and loss, customer satisfaction, audit compliance, labour management, and productivity.
- Manage daily operations of your assigned department, ensuring operational excellence alongside superior customer service.
- Drive sales growth and profitability by meeting or exceeding set department goals.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development to your team in areas like customer service, product knowledge, merchandising, and operational best practices.
- Create an inclusive and positive work environment that promotes colleague engagement, development, retention, and a culture of belonging.
- Ensure proper stocking, pricing, merchandising, and replenishment of products through efficient inventory control and collaboration with other departments.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and inviting atmosphere for both customers and staff.
- Work alongside store management and department leaders to support broader store initiatives and achieve business targets.
- Implement people strategies aligned with business goals, company culture, and values in partnership with store leadership.
- Maintain merchandising, operational, and compliance standards while continuously improving departmental processes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of high school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn through various methods.
- Previous experience in retail management, especially within departmental or specialty store environments, is advantageous.
- Strong leadership qualities and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and develop team members.
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
- Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
- Understanding of retail operations encompassing merchandising, inventory management, and customer service.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long durations.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $45,000 to $55,000 annually. The final remuneration may vary depending on experience, knowledge, and geographic location.
