Role overview
American First Finance is looking for a Data Scientist who can convert complex datasets into practical insights that improve business decisions. This position uses advanced analytics, machine learning, and visualization to support credit, fraud, and marketing initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Work through large datasets to identify patterns, trends, and insights that inform strategy.
- Build and support machine learning models focused on credit risk, fraud detection, and marketing outcomes.
- Prepare concise reports and presentations for business teams and leadership.
- Streamline reporting workflows and develop dashboards with Tableau or Power BI.
- Update and maintain existing R and SQL code, including related database tasks.
- Produce repeatable reports using Markdown.
Requirements
- Master’s degree, or an equivalent qualification, in Data Science, Business Analytics, or another relevant technical discipline.
- At least 4 years of experience, ideally in financial services.
- Strong background in data analysis, modeling, and visualization.
- Working knowledge of R, SQL, and reporting tools.
