Overview
Join the Hardware Operations team responsible for maintaining Google's cutting-edge physical infrastructure. In this role, you will install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain servers, server software, and complex networking components such as routers and switches. As a Data Center Technician based outside Google data centers in Frankfurt, Germany, you will help expand and maintain Internet infrastructure that supports billions of users worldwide. This role demands physical endurance and technical expertise to handle hardware installations and repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute deployment and operation of new data center infrastructure across various functions and projects.
- Identify, report, and resolve equipment or infrastructure issues following established data center protocols.
- Ensure data security by monitoring media and adhering to Google’s high security standards, including proper data erasure checks.
- Disassemble decommissioned equipment collaboratively and perform part replacements or maintenance.
- Conduct repairs and preventive maintenance on hardware, servers, or infrastructure with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
- Experience in component-level repairs and troubleshooting technical equipment is essential.
- Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols.
- Physical capability to lift or move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds (23 kg) and sustain active physical work including bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting over long periods.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, holidays, and shift schedules.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is desirable.
- At least two years diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems and hardware or networking protocols.
- Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux operating systems.
- Background in IT equipment component repair or related roles such as Systems Administration, Network Deployment, or Help Desk Technician.
- Experience working in data centers or network operations centers.
- Strong teamwork skills with adaptability to changing and dynamic work environments.

Compensation in Germany ranges from 2 80 9c70,000 to e2 80 9c72,000 EUR annually, plus a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
