Description de l'emploi

About the Role

The Data Center team at Google is responsible for designing and managing some of the most advanced electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems globally. As a Facilities Technician, you will be instrumental in operating, monitoring, and maintaining the physical infrastructure that supports our data centers. This includes oversight of air and water heating/cooling, power supplies, generators, UPS devices, electrical distribution, and control systems. Your role involves inspecting, servicing, and repairing piping and non-critical electrical or mechanical components, supporting senior technicians, reading schematics and blueprints, conducting system tours, and evaluating equipment performance.

You will play a key role in formulating innovative strategies to decrease operational expenses while enhancing overall data center efficiency. Ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards, quickly identifying and resolving issues, and managing performance during emergencies to reduce downtime is central to this position.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and troubleshoot data center control systems including BMS, PMS, SCADA, and PRN.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and corrective repairs on control hardware such as PLCs, sensors, and actuators, as well as associated software.
  • Analyze alarms and system data to enhance performance and address abnormal conditions.
  • Support the commissioning, testing, and integration of new control equipment and systems.
  • Use technical documentation including electrical schematics, control diagrams, and operational sequences effectively.
  • Collaborate with Electrical and Mechanical teams to solve interdisciplinary issues.
  • Follow strict safety protocols and document work and changes meticulously in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Participate in on-call rotations and work shifts during nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum associate degree, certified technical training, or comparable practical experience in a related field.
  • At least two years of experience with Industrial Control Systems (ICS), handling both hardware and software.
  • Familiarity with control system networking and relevant protocols.
  • Preferred industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, ISA Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST), or vendor-specific training.
  • Experience working in critical environments like data centers, power plants, hospitals, or industrial facilities is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Power Management Systems (PMS) like Rockwell, Schneider Electric, and Siemens.
  • Strong skills in troubleshooting Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and other control devices.
  • Understanding of the interaction between data center power and cooling systems with control systems.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills are essential.
