Role Overview

Join Ventia in making a meaningful contribution to justice by becoming a Custody Officer based in Pelican Point, Western Australia. This role involves maintaining the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of individuals in custody while facilitating the effective operation of the justice system.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and transport individuals in custody safely and securely.
• Provide security during court sessions.
• Perform welfare checks and uphold duty of care standards.
• Handle challenging situations with professionalism and composure.
• Keep detailed and accurate reports and records.
• Work collaboratively as part of a dedicated operational team.

Training and Development

• Enjoy comprehensive paid training including a fully funded Certificate III in Correctional Practice.
• Participate in five weeks of fully paid training before starting operational duties.
• No previous custody experience required.

Compensation and Benefits

• Earn $27.35 per hour during training and $29.50 per hour thereafter.
• Receive $30.93 per hour after 12 months and upon completion of the Certificate III.
• Benefit from a $256 per fortnight Western Australian State Government Pay Contribution Allowance (PCA) before tax.
• Guaranteed minimum hours under the Enterprise Agreement with applicable overtime pay.
• Premium pay rates for overtime, early/late shifts, weekends, and allowances for meal breaks, on-call duties, and additional responsibilities.
• Paid travel and parking allowances with support for regional secondments.

Candidate Requirements

• Availability for full-time training from Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.

• Capability to pass medical, fitness, and background verifications prior to employment.
