Custodian

Overview

The Custodian position entails maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in designated areas, ensuring safety and compliance with company protocols.

Key Duties

• Carry out janitorial tasks as scheduled daily.
• Handle hazardous waste management including collection, classification, sorting, storage, shipment, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging according to safety guidelines.
• Operate motorized cleaning machines competently.
• Maintain upkeep and hygiene of assigned areas consistently.
• Report any incidents or potential hazards promptly to supervisors.
• Adhere strictly to safety policies and encourage safe practices among peers.
• Support team efforts and assist during staff shortages.
• Communicate professionally with supervisors, coworkers, management, and customers.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment correctly.
• Uphold a professional appearance and conduct at all times.
• Understand and implement customer service principles and environmental reporting systems.

Qualifications and Skills

• No formal education required; 3 to 6 months of related training or experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license may be necessary.
• Completion of safety and task-based training certifications is expected.
• Forklift certification may be required in some instances.
• Bilingual abilities are considered an advantage.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, manuals, and procedures.
• Strong oral and written communication capabilities.
• Knowledgeable about cleaning techniques, equipment maintenance, and safe chemical use.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

• Capable of lifting/moving items up to 35 pounds.
• Work involves sitting and active listening responsibilities.

Compensation and Schedule

The role offers hourly pay ranging between $13.75 and $14.75, with working hours from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
