Position Summary
Join the Ohio Department of Veterans Services as a Custodial Worker in Sandusky, OH, where you will help maintain cleanliness and hygiene across various facilities dedicated to supporting veterans.
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting hourly wage is $19.44
- Both part-time and full-time opportunities are offered on 1st and 2nd shifts
- Scheduled pay increments based on years of service

Main Responsibilities
- Under general supervision, clean and maintain restrooms, living quarters, dining areas, and offices, including sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing floors, vacuuming carpets, cleaning glass and mirrors, washing windows and walls, scrubbing sinks, countertops, toilets, emptying trash receptacles, dusting surfaces, and restocking supplies like soap and paper products
- Apply infection control principles and follow related policies, such as managing spills and fluids, cleaning resident beds and furniture, and correctly using personal protective equipment
- Monitor and restock supply closets
- Report any required equipment repairs or incidents like fire hazards, unauthorized entries, or theft
- Maintain office areas by cleaning furniture, fixtures, equipment, and managing waste appropriately

Minimum Qualifications
Basic formal education including arithmetic skills like addition and subtraction, and proficiency in reading and speaking everyday English vocabulary are required. This role is classified as unskilled labor and exempt from written exams. Equivalent qualifications meeting the minimum class standards are acceptable.
