Role Overview
The Costuming Attendant plays a critical role in the smooth functioning of the Costuming department by handling tasks such as logistics, laundry, pressing, preparation, dressing, organization, and quality control of costume pieces used in live entertainment, character shows, seasonal and special events. This position ensures that all costume elements meet high standards of presentation and are promptly available for performers and entertainment teams.
Collaborating closely with Costuming Management, Technicians, Seamstresses, Performers, and others in the Entertainment team, the Attendant helps maintain costume quality and appearance standards critical to the show’s overall presentation. Responsibilities include garment care, inventory management, and following prescribed quality and operational guidelines.
As a member of the Entertainment team, the role supports exceptional guest experiences by assisting with production and event workflows, upholding artistic integrity, operational efficiency, and promoting a professional team environment.
Daily Duties
- Manage daily costume issuing and returns for performers and the entertainment crew.
- Perform garment laundering, pressing, steaming, hand sewing, and minor repairs as needed.
- Maintain organization and storage of costumes to promote easy access and efficiency.
- Provide assistance with costume changes, backstage operations, and requirements during performances and special occasions.
- Ensure all costumes are well-labeled, sorted, and stored per departmental standards.
- Support rehearsals, special projects, seasonal events, and entertainment activities.
- Maintain cleanliness, presentation quality, and overall costume standards.
- Conduct routine quality inspections to guarantee compliance with entertainment and brand requirements.
- Help uphold production values by ensuring costumes align with the intended artistic vision.
- Identify improvement opportunities in costume care, storage, and operational processes.
- Foster positive relationships with performers and cross-department colleagues.
- Encourage knowledge sharing and contribute to a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Report operational issues, costume defects, and inventory needs promptly.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols related to laundry equipment, garment care chemicals, and workplace practices.
- Keep costume workspaces and storage areas clean, orderly, and safe.
- Comply with departmental policies and company standards at all times.
- Support sustainability efforts by ensuring careful garment handling and preservation.
Qualifications
- Completion of higher secondary education or equivalent.
- At least one year of relevant work experience in laundry operations or garment care.
- Practical knowledge of fabric care, laundering, steaming, pressing, and basic garment repairs.
- Strong attention to detail with a dedication to maintaining quality standards.
- Ability to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
- Effective communication skills and a cooperative, team-oriented approach.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends, holidays, and special events.
- Basic understanding of inventory control and asset management.
- Positive attitude with a focus on customer service and teamwork.
- Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience in hotel laundry or uniform departments.
- Background in theme parks, live entertainment, theatre, hospitality, or related fields.
- Familiarity with costume and wardrobe operations.
- Knowledge of costume fabrics, trims, and specialized care techniques.
- Experience supporting live productions backstage.
- Understanding of costume presentation and performer support requirements.
- Proficiency with inventory tracking or wardrobe management systems.
- Basic sewing and garment repair capabilities.
- Ability to assist with large-scale events, seasonal activations, and entertainment productions.
