Position Overview
Bulyanhulu Gold Mine, under Barrick Mining Corporation, is inviting applications for the role of Corporate Communication Officer. This role, reporting to the Country Manager, is responsible for overseeing the company's corporate branding and managing media communications to ensure consistency with Barrick’s global standards and protect its corporate identity. The position also involves implementing and adapting Barrick’s internal communication strategies at the national level, promoting a positive organizational culture, enhancing employee engagement, and maintaining alignment with Barrick’s DNA and business goals in Tanzania.
Core Responsibilities
- Champion and integrate Barrick's core values and DNA in all communication efforts.
- Implement Barrick’s Internal Communications Strategy effectively.
- Manage and utilize the Tanzania In-Reach Program to communicate timely and consistent information across approved channels.
- Lead the DNA awareness initiatives within the organization through the In-Reach program.
- Support and execute AME and global corporate initiatives, disseminating key messages, standards, and guidelines.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and corporate communications teams to develop and deliver a comprehensive country communication strategy and engagement plans.
- Manage branding and corporate identity for all industry events, media briefings, exhibitions, and forums in alignment with Barrick’s standards.
- Prepare, write, and distribute communications, reports, and social media content as directed.
- Oversee digital communication channels to ensure alignment with both internal and external communication objectives.
- Create content for internal and external platforms consistent with the company’s corporate communication approach.
- Work with HR and CSR teams to roll out internal initiatives, campaigns, and engagement activities.
- Ensure consistent communication of Barrick’s key messages and successes to staff through multiple channels.
- Maintain the company's corporate identity and brand image across all communication efforts.
- Capture and share compelling stories supporting AME and global strategies such as Journey to Zero.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and reporting guidelines.
- Provide internal communication support to other AME operations to align with Barrick’s global brand protection.
- Assist with public-facing event branding including exhibitions and conferences.
- Support development and execution of advertising campaigns promoting Barrick’s image, achievements, and community work.
Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related discipline.
- Minimum three years of experience in corporate communications or journalism.
- Demonstrated success in devising and implementing communication strategies and campaigns.
- Proficient writing, editing, and verbal communication skills tailored to diverse audiences and platforms.
- Strong storytelling skills with the ability to translate complex information into engaging content.
- Experienced with digital communication tools, social media, content management, email marketing, and analytics software.
- Knowledgeable about media relations including pitching, press releases, and media monitoring, with established media contacts.
- Strategic thinker with problem-solving capabilities to anticipate challenges and develop communication solutions.
- Proven collaborative skills working cross-functionally with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
- Adaptable, flexible, and maintains professionalism under pressure.
- Familiarity with graphic design software and digital media management.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage stakeholder relationships effectively.
