Job description
Overview and Role Responsibilities
The role demands leading the enterprise-wide procurement and contracts department by setting strategic direction and governance frameworks. This includes defining company procurement policies, creating sourcing strategies, and implementing governance protocols to guide procurement actions. A core focus is on sustained cost reduction, fostering vendor relationships, and driving value engineering initiatives that optimize procurement efficiency.
Leadership and Governance
The candidate will be responsible for establishing and managing a high-performance procurement team. Responsibilities also encompass managing contractual claims, dispute resolution processes, and mitigating risks associated with contracts. Moreover, they will act as the voice of procurement within senior leadership forums and steering committees.
Preferred Candidate Profile
Ideal applicants will have experience managing complex procurement processes and handling high-value contracts. They will review and authorize tender strategies, negotiation tactics, and contract awards. Ensuring contract administration aligns with budget and schedule requirements is essential. Leadership qualities include mentoring multi-location teams comprised of senior managers, engineers, and administrative personnel, fostering professionalism, collaboration, and accountability throughout the function.
The leader will define clear roles and responsibilities, set performance benchmarks linked to organizational goals, and oversee capability development through training and mentorship programs. The role encourages cultivating a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and adoption of digital procurement systems. Collaboration across departments like Projects, Quantity Surveying, Contracts, Finance, Design, and Quality is vital to seamless project execution while upholding ethical standards and transparency. Regular coaching and engagement initiatives will motivate team members to excel and achieve organizational targets.
