Job description

Overview

A reputable healthcare institution in Abu Dhabi is recruiting a seasoned Consultant specializing in Infectious Diseases. This role involves delivering expert clinical care to adult patients battling complex infectious conditions, actively engaging in antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention efforts, and collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams to uphold evidence-based healthcare standards.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage a diverse range of infectious disorders including bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections.
  • Oversee complicated infectious cases such as sepsis, HIV, tuberculosis, endocarditis, osteomyelitis, and nosocomial infections.
  • Lead and support initiatives to optimize antibiotic use through antimicrobial stewardship programs.
  • Work closely with ICU, internal medicine, surgical, and microbiology departments for comprehensive patient management.
  • Offer expert consultation for both inpatient and outpatient infectious disease scenarios.
  • Participate in infection control measures and manage outbreaks effectively.
  • Ensure adherence to Department of Health (DOH) Abu Dhabi standards, hospital policies, and international clinical guidelines.
  • Contribute to educational activities, clinical audits, research, and quality enhancement projects.

Required Qualifications

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification recognized by DOH Abu Dhabi.
  • Board certification or fellowship in Infectious Diseases from recognized bodies such as the American Board, UK CCT, Canadian Board, or equivalents.
  • Possession of a valid DOH Consultant License or eligibility in Infectious Diseases.
  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years’ experience post-specialization in a tertiary or academic hospital setting.
  • Proven expertise managing complex infectious diseases and antimicrobial stewardship.
  • Strong clinical decision-making abilities, excellent communication, and teamwork skills.

Desired Competencies

  • Experience in handling outbreaks and implementing hospital infection control measures.
  • Consultation experience in intensive care unit infectious disease cases.
  • Research background with publications in infectious diseases is advantageous.
  • Capability to thrive in diverse, high-pressure clinical environments.
