Description de l'emploi

About LIC

LIC is a farmer-owned cooperative with a long history of supporting herd improvement in New Zealand’s dairy industry for over 115 years. Its work centres on stronger genetics, dependable testing and diagnostics, integrated farm software, and customer support that helps farmers make better decisions every day.

As a multigenerational cooperative, LIC exists to support farmers, their families, and rural communities now and into the future. Its people are essential to that mission, whether they work on farms, in laboratories, or in support functions.

The role

Reporting to the AB Production Manager, this position is responsible for leading LIC’s Awahuri Semen Processing Laboratory and making sure production goals, quality expectations, and EU export obligations are met consistently.

This is a practical leadership position with responsibility for guiding laboratory operations, building a strong team, improving processes, and partnering with stakeholders across AB Operations, International, and Sexing Technologies.

Key focus areas

  • Oversee the daily running of the Awahuri Semen Processing Laboratory.
  • Meet semen production targets and shipment timelines for export.
  • Maintain compliance with EU, GBR, and WOAH regulatory standards.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop a capable and high-performing laboratory team.
  • Identify and implement improvements to laboratory systems and workflows.
  • Control operating budgets and support strong financial outcomes.
  • Track, analyse, and report on operational and quality metrics.
  • Collaborate effectively across the organisation to ensure smooth product delivery.
  • Promote a workplace culture focused on safety, quality, and accountability.

About you

LIC is looking for someone with leadership experience in a laboratory, production, manufacturing, or similar operational setting. You should be confident building team capability, balancing priorities, and working to deadlines in a busy environment.

You will also need strong analytical and process-improvement skills, clear communication, and the ability to manage relationships with a range of stakeholders. A solid understanding of quality systems and compliance expectations is important.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word is required, and experience with SAP would be an advantage. Familiarity with the Export Germplasm OAP Operational Code, EU and GBR OMARs, and WOAH regulations is highly desirable. Experience as an auditor or auditee would be helpful.

A tertiary qualification in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field is preferred.

What’s on offer

Along with a competitive salary, the role includes extra leave, discounted health, life, income, and disability insurance, access to an employee share scheme, wellbeing discounts, free onsite parking, an employee assistance programme, and additional benefits.

This is an opportunity to join a progressive agri-tech organisation and contribute to the future of dairy in New Zealand and internationally.
