Description de l'emploi

About the Role

Are you passionate about transforming designs into precision-engineered parts? We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to independently manage machining tasks on various CNC machines including 4-axis mill-turn and 3 to 5-axis milling machines. You will be involved in the production of components throughout all product lifecycle stages—from rapid prototyping in research and development to scaling parts for consistent, unattended manufacturing.

Dawn Aerospace specializes in satellite propulsion systems and one of the world’s fastest climbing spaceplanes. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge, demanding components.

You will collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to ensure timely delivery of top-quality, complex parts. This position requires a dedication to speed and quality and a proactive approach to problem solving without passing issues on to others.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and modify CNC programs using CAM tools such as Fusion 360 and TopSolid.
  • Design and execute fixtures to guarantee safe and consistent machining for R&D and production components.
  • Machine parts primarily made from Stainless Steel, Inconel, and Titanium, processing from raw materials or finishing 3D printed items.
  • Choose suitable tooling, workholding, methods, and cutting parameters for applications requiring high precision, like sealing surfaces.
  • Validate NC programs and transition them to full-scale production runs.
  • Operate production machines while ensuring adherence to quality standards, precise tolerances, and monitoring machine performance.
  • Use precision measurement instruments to inspect completed parts.
  • Identify and implement improvements to machining cycle times, repeatability, tooling, and techniques.
  • Upgrade fixtures and tooling to raise efficiency and quality.
  • Work closely with engineers and leadership to resolve machining and design issues.
  • Create dependable, repeatable, and scalable manufacturing procedures.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience as a CNC Machinist.
  • Proficient in CNC programming, setup, and operation.
  • Experience with Fusion 360 and TopSolid CAM software highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc and Heidenhain CNC controllers is an advantage.
  • Strong ability to interpret complex engineering drawings including detailed GD&T specifications.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of machining techniques, tooling, and fixturing.
  • A demonstrated history of using precision measurement tools to verify compliance with specifications.
  • High attention to detail and dedication to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of projects while effectively collaborating with the team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving capabilities.

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with programming and operating machines such as NTX 1000, NLX 2000, DMU50, and HAAS VM2 is beneficial.

Diversity and Inclusion

We value diversity and believe that inclusive teams create better outcomes. Dawn Aerospace commits to fostering a workplace where individuals of all identities, backgrounds, and experiences are welcomed and empowered to excel.
