Chief Technology Officer

Overview

At Soledad Data Solutions, the Chief Technology Officer will oversee all aspects of technology including research efforts, product engineering, MLOps, security, and platform development, enabling small teams to deliver significant outcomes. This role involves close collaboration with the company founder on strategic initiatives and serving as a representative to clients, partners, and the wider research community.

Responsibilities

• Develop and regularly update a multi-year technical roadmap.
• Recruit, guide, and maintain a senior engineering and research team based on trust.
• Set engineering standards, manage security policies, and instill an on-call operational culture.
• Collaborate with the founder on fundraising, strategic alliances, and resolving customer issues.
• Serve as a credible spokesperson through presentations, publications, and customer engagement.

Candidate Requirements

• Over 10 years in engineering leadership roles, with at least 4 years as VP, Director, or CTO in machine learning-focused organizations.
• Proven experience delivering and managing ML or AI products at scale.
• Demonstrated success in hiring and retaining highly skilled technical staff.
• Effective communication skills with customers, regulatory bodies, and investors.
• Balanced approach to managing research advancement and production system reliability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a founder or key member in early-stage startups.
• Expertise in autonomous decision-making, decision science, or practical AI safety methodologies.
