Role overview
A major iGaming and sports betting operator in Kenya is seeking a commercially driven Chief Executive Officer to lead the business end to end. This senior appointment calls for a leader who can translate strategy into revenue, strengthen market position, and guide the operation in a fast-paced, tightly regulated, and highly competitive environment.
The role carries responsibility for overall business performance, including growth, profitability, people leadership, governance, product direction, customer value, and confidence among stakeholders. The selected leader will work closely with shareholders and senior stakeholders to shape a sustainable long-term growth agenda rather than focusing on short-lived wins.
This position is suited to someone who is comfortable making decisions across EBITDA, acquisition efficiency, sportsbook margin, CRM, regulatory risk, customer retention, product delivery, and leadership capability.
Key responsibilities
- Assume full ownership of the Kenyan business, covering P&L delivery, commercial direction, operational execution, and long-term expansion.
- Create and implement a market strategy spanning sportsbook, casino, acquisition, retention, VIP, CRM, partnerships, and digital product initiatives.
- Assemble and guide a strong leadership group across marketing, operations, finance, product, technology, customer service, risk, compliance, and people functions.
- Improve the company’s standing in Kenya through distinct branding, better customer experience, stronger product relevance, and disciplined marketing spend.
- Increase revenue while lifting profitability, player value, retention, and overall operating efficiency.
- Manage marketing outcomes across digital campaigns, affiliates, sponsorships, media alliances, promotional activity, and retention efforts.
- Make sure the business complies with all applicable rules on regulation, tax, AML, responsible gaming, and corporate governance.
- Build productive relationships with regulators, payment partners, technology vendors, media organisations, suppliers, and key business stakeholders.
- Guide product and platform priorities to deliver a dependable, competitive, mobile-first experience for customers.
- Put in place strong forecasting, reporting, performance tracking, and decision-making routines across the organisation.
- Spot new growth opportunities, strategic alliances, product extensions, and additional commercial channels.
- Foster a performance-led culture where accountability is clear, results are measured properly, and decisions are made quickly with sound commercial judgement.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate brings senior leadership experience from iGaming, sports betting, online gaming, fintech, telecoms, digital entertainment, or another high-volume consumer environment.
Previous leadership at CEO, Managing Director, General Manager, COO, Commercial Director, or a similar level with substantial P&L ownership is important.
They should understand sportsbook and casino operations, CRM, acquisition, retention, payments, customer lifecycle management, and digital growth levers.
Experience in regulated markets is essential, especially where compliance, reputation management, and commercial execution must be balanced carefully.
A proven history of scaling businesses, improving commercial results, or leading complex market entry and expansion is highly valued.
Strong financial capability is needed, including budgeting, forecasting, margin management, acquisition economics, and profitability control.
The role also requires the ability to lead senior teams, address underperformance directly, and build an environment that attracts strong operators.
Excellent stakeholder management is expected, with confidence in working with investors, boards, regulators, and external partners.
Experience in Kenya or the wider African betting and gaming sector would be an advantage.
