Description de l'emploi

Role Overview

Community HealthCare Association of the Dakotas (CHAD) is looking for a forward-thinking executive to step into the Chief Executive Officer role. This position offers the chance to influence the direction of community health, expand access to care, and create lasting impact in North Dakota and South Dakota.

CHAD represents community health centers across the Dakotas and helps organizations serving rural and underserved populations through advocacy, innovation, workforce development, and strategic partnerships.

What the CEO Will Lead

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO is responsible for guiding CHAD’s overall strategy, day-to-day operations, advocacy agenda, and organizational growth. The role also serves as the organization’s primary ambassador, fostering partnerships that improve healthcare access and strengthen community health outcomes across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set the strategic direction for CHAD, the Health Center Controlled Network (HCCN), and the Clinically Integrated Network (CIN).
  • Work closely with the Board to advance priorities and support strong governance practices.
  • Build and sustain a high-performing workplace culture centered on teamwork, accountability, innovation, and excellent service.
  • Create leadership growth opportunities for employees and emerging leaders.
  • Drive advocacy efforts and represent CHAD with policymakers, funders, and healthcare leaders.
  • Deepen member engagement and develop strategic partnerships throughout North and South Dakota.
  • Oversee fiscal discipline, compliance, grant administration, and long-term organizational sustainability.
  • Promote workforce development and encourage data-informed decisions across member organizations.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will bring a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, public health, business, public policy, or a closely related field; a master’s degree is preferred. They should have at least five years of progressive leadership experience in community health, healthcare, public health, or a similar sector.

Success in strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement, advocacy, and financial stewardship is expected, along with experience leading complex organizations, programs, or multi-site operations. Familiarity with healthcare systems, funding structures, and community-based care in the Dakotas is also important.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

For more than 35 years, CHAD has worked to improve access to affordable, high-quality healthcare across North and South Dakota. Joining the organization means contributing to a mission-driven team focused on healthier communities and stronger healthcare systems.

Benefits and Rewards

  • Health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance fully covered by the employer
  • Retirement plan with employer matching up to 6%
  • Generous paid leave plus 11 paid holidays
  • Remote work setup
  • Wellness time and an office stipend
  • The opportunity to do meaningful work that expands healthcare access across the Dakotas

Location, Travel, and Work Schedule

This is a remote role, but the selected candidate must be based in North Dakota or South Dakota. The position requires regular travel throughout both states, plus occasional regional and national travel for meetings and conferences. Some evening and weekend availability may also be needed.

Compensation

The expected starting salary range for this role is $130,000 to $150,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Candidates with especially strong credentials may be considered above the stated range.

Additional Information

This is a full-time leadership position with a strong mission focus and broad regional responsibility.
