Chemical Buyer

About the Role

Our client, a chemical manufacturing firm based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, seeks a Chemical Buyer with a minimum of three years’ experience specifically in chemical or liquid procurement. This position offers a negotiable salary up to R450,000 annually.

Qualifications and Experience

• Certificate, diploma, or degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or CPS is preferred.
• Background in import logistics and international trade is advantageous.
• Experience with SAGE X3 software is a plus.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are necessary.
• At least three years of procurement experience in chemicals or liquids.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify procurement needs throughout the company.
• Develop and maintain supplier relationships, negotiating terms such as pricing, volumes, and delivery schedules.
• Collaborate with Production and Quality Assurance teams to optimize packaging for enhancing product appeal.
• Manage purchase requisitions and update Production on order status.
• Monitor inventory levels and maintain accurate stock records.
• Coordinate transportation of goods and ensure timely delivery.
• Maintain process documentation compliant with ISO standards for audit readiness.
• Create and manage purchase orders for various company branches.
• Upload supplier documentation and price lists to designated platforms.
• Conduct all sourcing activities following Procurement Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Resolve issues related to invoice discrepancies, quantities, and pricing.
• Promote ethical behavior and compliance in all stakeholder dealings.
